Written and Prepared events require a written project as well as a prepared presentation. There is no exam, EXCEPT for Integrated Marketing Campaign projects and professional selling events, which require participants to take a career cluster exam. All of these events should be started early in the school year because of the preparation involved. See the DECA Guide for exact offerings and guidelines.
Prepared events compete at States with the opportunity to advance to Internationals.
It is not advised for freshmen to compete in written events (upperclassmen may join a team with experienced members)
These events challenge you to design and conduct research to present findings and a strategic plan on a topic that changes annually. (1–3 people; no exam)
