Elementary Music provides the foundation for creative expression, culture, aesthetic awareness, and aural development while providing a background in music history and culture. The General Music Program is offered to K-6th graders in the Elementary Schools. Currently, the students in grades K-6 receive 38 minutes of music instruction. The curriculum focuses on the CPIs from K-6th grade, in alignment with the recent Visual & Performing Arts standards realignment and NJCCCS/ CPI for Technology and 21st Century Skills.
Students have an option of partaking in the Vocal program in grades 5-12 (for grades 5 &6 in addition to the General Music classes.) Students interested in the program may contact their guidance counselor or one of the music teachers.
Students in the General Music classes will perform in either the Winter or Spring School Concerts. Please contact your building music teacher for more information on either of the above-stated performance opportunities.
Annually, Sixth Grade students will be eligible to perform in the Town Wide Music Festival.
