The Crisis Department at Bloomfield High School offers crisis support services and is staffed with state licensed mental health clinicians. The office is located on the second floor of the high school. The crisis suite includes four individual counseling offices and a common area with ample seating and space for students to take breaks or wait for sessions with a counselor. The primary mission of Crisis at BHS is to ensure student safety and emotional well being, promote positive mental health, and support students in the attainment of both personal and academic goals.
The department offers a variety of support to assist youth who are experiencing emotional challenges which can include, but are not limited to the following:
Alcohol and other drug problems
Child abuse and Neglect
Family crisis- divorce, separation, illness or death
Suicidal thoughts and/or self harming behaviors
Mental Health related disorders such as Anxiety & Depression
Interpersonal conflict
Sexual Assault
Bullying
Eating disorders
Referrals to crisis are ongoing throughout the school year and parents, staff, and students themselves can make a referral to the crisis department. All referrals are kept confidential. Once a referral is received, the crisis staff will work with students and families to assess mental health needs and refer to the appropriate community resources for ongoing care.
