Here's some of the  fun our Bulldogs have enjoyed in the past!

DOT DAY -- September 15th~ish

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We had a very successful online bookfair May 3 - May 16.  I just want to thank you so very much for all your support!  The representative from Scholastic called to say how impressed she was with our online bookfair results!  Although we have made much more in past years, I felt very supported and very proud of our wonderful Bulldog Community.

March 23, 2021 -- "Buzzing Around Online"

At the end of the story Honeybee: The Busy Life of Apis Mellifera,  Candace Fleming included some "places to find honeybees online."  Here is what she shared with you, Bulldog Readers:

Watch Apis do the waggle dance

February 11, 2021

This week some of the older Elementary and Intermediate students were able to learn about Audrey Faye Hendricks and the Children's March, when I came to read The Youngest Marcher by Cynthia Levinson.  This interview includes the author's wonderful reading of the story, and after the reading, about 30 minutes of an interview.  During the Q&A, Cynthia Levinson shares more about what she learned about Audrey Faye Hendricks and her experiences, what she learned about the Children's March, and other things she learned throughout her research. Parents, please be aware: Some of this subject matter might be upsetting for younger children.

February 3, 2021 --Happy World Read Aloud Day!

What a wonderful day to celebrate reading and being able to share it with others!  Here are a few resources to enjoy today that some wonderful authors have shared with you.  Some of these are books, and some are just a taste.  Some of these books you might know already, and some are books that are not available in stores yet.

 Hope you enjoy!

...and lastly, I thought this book, God Bless Our Troops, might be a great one for today, as we "Celebrate Our Nation" as part of Catholic Schools' Week today.  The read aloud begins at the 11:33 mark.

Click on the links above to get digital access to these resources.  Stay tuned -- more will be coming!

January 19, 2021 -- Jan Brett reads her story Cozy, and introduces us to musk oxen in Alaska:

Here is a link to a musk ox farm, like Jan Brett mentioned in her video.  Want to learn more about this interesting creature?  The Musk Ox Farm provides a booklet about musk oxen at this link.  You can download and print it, then read and learn all about them as you do the activities.

Bulldog Families: December 21st, via Facebook, join Loren Long, author & illustrator of one of our Bulldog favorites, Otis, and all the wonderful books in the Otis series, for a read and draw along!

Loren Long's Read Along, Draw Along

It will be live on the Crayola Education's Facebook page at 6pm our time, so you can make comments and ask questions at that time, if you like.  If that time does not work for you and your family, you should still be able to watch a recording of it on the Crayola Education Facebook page afterwards.  I hope you & your family can enjoy this read along of The Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Loren Long, and then have fun drawing along with him.

December 4th -- Happy Friday! Time to kick off your shoes, enjoy those cozy socks, and maybe a cookie or two.  #NationalSockDay #NationalCookie Day

Some Family Fun:  Found Object Challenge!

Ms. Ohi was quite impressed by you, Bulldogs, and what you were able to do with her Button Day Challenge...and so was I!  I'd love to see what you can make from the pictures of these objects.  Use your pencils, colors, markers, watercolors -- whatever you like -- and turn the page in any direction that inspires you to see something new you can create with your drawing skills and the objects found on each page.  Choose one or try them all!  Click on each one, print them, and see what your family and friends can create differently from the same picture, too.  Snap a picture and send it to my email -- I love seeing your creativity and genius!

A Time for Giving Thanks...

You're grateful, you're kind...why not share your gratitude with others? "Share some kindness , bring some light,", right, Bulldogs?  Wide Open School has many ecards you can send to others, or download and print to give to others, if you prefer.

Wednesday, November 25 --

Grab a snack and join Debbie Ridpath Ohi on Facebook Wednesday, November 25th at 1pm for a read aloud of her new book Gurple and Preen.  After the read aloud she will lead an art activity, too!

Happy Button Day!

Print Debbie Ridpath Ohi's picture above, and turn it into your own artistic creation!  Email me of picture of your work (or you and your work, if that's alright with your parents), and we'll show Debbie Ridpath Ohi.

Debbie Ridpath Ohi, illustrator of some of our favorite books, including I'm Bored, I'm Sad, and I'm Worried, has challenged all of us today to use her photo of two buttons to create a new drawing from it.  Print it out, add to it to create your own original piece, and share it with me.  Then, we can show it to Ms. Ohi.  Happy Button Day, Bulldogs!

Happy World Kindness Day, Bulldogs!

There are many ways things you can do or say to make the world around you a better place for everyone!   Here is just one way to have some fun while you bring smiles to others...

Blessed Teachers, there is an email from me about these events if you would like your classes to be able to participate.

Happy World Origami Day!

Read for the Record!

October 29, 2020 is the day we unite with readers all over to Read for the Record.  This year the book that's been chosen is Evelyn Del Rey is Moving Away.  You might choose to read the ebook or audiobook versions on Hoopla or Cloud Library with your Bibliotech account, or with the Libby app using your San Antonio Public Library account.  However, you can also enjoy having it read to you and your family by some service members from every branch of the military at https://youtu.be/SbnyEcDJ5g8
