School Counseling

About Me

Hi! I’m Emily Coartney, and I’m excited to serve as the school counselor at Deerfield Elementary School.

I married my husband, Zach, in October of 2025. We enjoy spending time at home with our dogs, Archie and Delilah. I also love reading mystery and thriller novels. I am a big Broadway fan, and even have season tickets to the Orpheum in Omaha! Some of my favorite shows are Six, Wicked, and Hamilton. 

Education & Experience

I began my college journey at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where I studied Elementary Education and Psychology. I later earned my Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Social-Emotional Learning from Doane University in 2022. I am currently pursuing my Master of Education in School Counseling at Doane University, which will be completed in the spring of 2027.

After graduating with my undergraduate degree, I spent a semester working in the Gifted Program for Lincoln Public Schools. I then taught kindergarten and first grade for Lincoln Public Schools for three years. I taught kindergarten at Deerfield last school year.
