Welcome to our 2nd bicycling adventure!
It begins again...
Seven and a half weeks ago, we finished our first cross country bike ride of the United States (chronicled here, in our Postcards from the U.S. site), and now we begin a new adventure back in a place we have visited a number of times before and love: Patagonia.
Patagonia is the large region that encompasses the entire southern part of Chile and Argentina in South America and is typically thought of as having a northern section, a middle section, and the far southern section. We are cycling in the norhern section in the latitudes of 39-43 degrees South during the austral summer in hopes of catching some good weather.
There are a total of 43 crossings between Chile and Argentina over the Andes... a mountain range that extends the entire length of the western edge of South America, and reaches altitudes of over 22,000 ft (6,700 m) in places! Our route will incorporate multiple crossings of the Andes Mountains over six weeks. Rest assured, we shall NOT be crossing at any altitude higher than 3,690 ft (1,123m.) Join us as we share our experiences via our periodic Postcards from Patagonia --- just follow the links below! 🤗
