Our motivation
We believe picking up plastic waste is essential for protecting the environment and preserving natural ecosystems.
Plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, during which time it can harm wildlife, pollute waterways and damage habitats. When animals ingest or become entangled in plastic, it can lead to injury or death. By picking up plastic waste, individuals help reduce pollution, protect wildlife, and contribute to cleaner, healthier communities.
Small actions, when taken collectively, can make a significant difference in the fight against environmental pollution and promote a more sustainable future for generations to come.
Plastic Patrol is an environmental project that works to reduce plastic pollution by organizing weekly clean-ups and educating our communities in Karatu. Our main goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic waste, because it harms both the environment, wildlife and our health.
Plastic Patrol helps people understand the impact of plastic pollution and encourages everyone to take action to protect nature.
The students at Black Rhino Academy are the main drivers of the project. We educate each other and learn about the problems caused by plastic waste, the importance of re- and upcycling and using less plastic.
We are hands-on action takers to make a real difference in protecting the planet!
