The Future Teachers Programme is back! Developed and delivered by our experienced academic and support staff from the Institute of Education, Arts & Society and the Outreach Team. This programme is designed to empower students with the essential knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become successful future teachers.
Our Discovery Days allow students to gain insight into the life of trainee teachers at the University of Cumbria and gain knowledge about teaching strategies.
Attend an on-campus Discovery Day:
Carlisle Fusehill Street Campus: Thursday, 5th June 2025
Lancaster Campus: Tuesday, 17th June 2025
Student benefits:
Certification: Upon completion, receive a Future Teachers Programme Certificate.
UCAS Advantage: Students who attend the On-Campus Discovery Day and then go on to apply for a teaching course at the University of Cumbria will be eligible for a 16 UCAS Points reduction*.
Primary Education and Early Years (3-11) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Primary Education: Inclusion with SEND (5-11 years) with QTS (Offered exclusively at the Lancaster Campus)

We have teamed up with 13 excellent universities to host our annual summer schools programmes this year, offering young people from across the country the opportunity to experience life at university before they decide on their next steps.
Lancaster University will be in the foyer on Friday13th October 2023 between 11:30am and 1:30pm answering any questions you may have about university.
