The Role

On-site, you will be based within our training team where you will undertake more formal in-house training for the duration with our Operations functions, with a manufacturing focussed programme. Upon completion you will join our team as a fully qualified Process Operator.

Here are a few examples of what our Process Operators do:

• Operate the manufacturing process to the required quality and safety standards and relevant operating procedures.

• Work closely with the process team and interact with other departments like laboratory, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and warehouse. You may also engage with external contacts, including customers, service providers, and regulators.

• Ensure products meet quality standards and production schedules while adhering to external manufacturing regulations for safety, sustainability, and compliance. You may need to wear specialist PPE, such as safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves, suits, footwear, or breathing apparatus. 

• Working alone or in a team, you will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of your work with minimal supervision.

• Maintain required standards of plant housekeeping to ensure safe and efficient working practices

Leyland Trucks- Design Engineering Level 6

Leyland has sole responsibility for the engineering design and development of the DAF XB product within the PACCAR organisation. As an apprentice you will gain a significant amount of knowledge through undertaking a structured rotation around various mechanical and electrical design functions whilst studying towards a degree qualification. You will gain CAD skills and an insight into design areas including chassis, powertrain, cabs and electrical systems.

 As part of this apprenticeship, you will learn how to maintain the equipment and facilities necessary to keep the market leading truck factory at peak condition. In the first year, you will undertake your training at the Academy for Skills and Knowledge at Samlesbury Lancashire.  You will be trained in both practical and theory-based engineering and in addition, learning the basics in such things as electrical circuits, aircraft fitting, fabrication, flight line awareness, machining, carbon fibre and Computer Aided Design.

The Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Scheme (EDAS) in Aerospace, is a five year scheme. The EDAS Aerospace Degree Apprenticeship covers a wide range of engineering branches required to design, develop, build and maintain modern advanced aircraft.

With over 130 aircraft in our fleet, we rely on our Group Airlines from around Europe to fly customers to our worldwide destinations in a safe and enjoyable way. Our Engineering & Maintenance team manages the serviceability of our aircraft to support TUI Airline’s flying schedule, working to enhance our operation and customer experience, with a focus on digitalisation. You’ll work on some of the highest tech aircraft currently in operation and ensure the safe and reliable operation of our fleet. This programme is an opportunity for you to develop your engineering skills through a combination of classroom and workshop learning, as well as hands-on experience with live aircraft. You’ll gain a Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship – specialising in the Aircraft Maintenance Fitter/Technician pathway – alongside a Level 3 Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, all whilst developing a rewarding career in our Engineering & Maintenance team. If you have studied a level 4 qualification, or above in Engineering, then unfortunately you will not be eligible for this position. The Resource Group (training provider) deliver the apprenticeship training and you will attend their training centre in Luton for the first year with on a block release at their headquarters in the Cotswolds. What is the role?

As a Process Operator Apprentice you will spend time at the specialist training facility with our training provider Blackpool & the Fylde College. You will learn basic manufacturing and craft skills, giving you a great foundation to progress.

On-site, you will be based within our training team where you will undertake more formal in-house training for the duration with our Operations functions, with a manufacturing focussed programme. Upon completion you will join our team as a fully qualified Process Operator.

Here are a few examples of what our Process Operators do:

• Operate the manufacturing process to the required quality and safety standards and relevant operating procedures.

• Maintain required standards of plant housekeeping to ensure safe and efficient working practices

• Identify continuous improvement opportunities support wider continuous improvement activities.

This Apprenticeship will give you an industry recognised qualification with many of our apprentice going on to additional study.

This duration of this Apprenticeship Programme is 48 months and if successful, you will join our 2024 Apprenticeship Intake in September.

What do I need for this role?

To be eligible for this programme we need you to have achieved or be on course for 5 GCSE's including English, Maths & a Science at Grade C/4 or above. Of course we understand it is not all about grades and we are on the look out for the following skills/personal qualities:

The Ameon Degree Apprenticeship in Building Services & Sustainable Engineering

Ameon is a prestigious engineering brand in its field specialising in the design and construction of Mechanical, Electrical, Utility and Renewable Engineering services within all types of commercial developments including Hotels, High Rise residential buildings, Sports Stadiums, Hospitals, Health Centres, Schools, Further Education Blocks, Higher Education Facilities, Offices, Factories, law Courts, Specialist Manufacturing Facilities and just about everything else in between.

Ameon has operated a degree apprenticeship programme for over 20 years with all graduates still currently employed within the business and at positions up to and including company Director. The company is committed to apprenticeships at all levels and its degree apprenticeship is a five-year programme run in conjunction with UCLAN leading to Incorporated Engineer (IENG) status which can be further supported to Chartered Engineer (CEng) as your Career develops.

What do I need?

Applicants are expected to have a passion for engineering and the desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and other design team members. A Level grades A* to B in Maths, Physics or Chemistry are preferred; however, alternative qualifications may be acceptable provided at least A level standard in Maths or a Science is demonstrated.

What do I get?

Graduates will obtain a BENG (Hons) degree in Building Services & Sustainable Engineering and would be registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IENG) with the Engineering Council whilst also receiving in house training in design calculation software, 3D modelling and Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques, system design, quantity surveying, contract and project management and cost estimation.

Training and development does not stop on graduation. Graduate Engineers receive ongoing training and professional development through to Senior Engineer and beyond.

The starting salary is £12000.00 per annum, rising to approximately £30,000.00 on completion and continues to rise through the company pay scales for technicians and ultimately Senior Engineer pay scales.
