Every day we see living things — plants, animals, insects — interacting in many ways. One of the most important interactions is feeding: who eats what. These feeding relationships form what scientists call a food chain. A food chain shows how energy flows through living organisms in a habitat — from plants that make their own food, to animals that eat these plants, to predators, and finally to decomposers that return nutrients to the soil.
By doing this WebQuest, you will explore how food chains are built, why each organism’s role matters, and how changes to one link of the chain can affect the entire ecosystem.
