Immersive Experiences

As part of your STEAM Conference registration, you may attend your choice of one or two Immersive Experiences on August 6th. Space is limited so please register for each of your selections by clicking on the links below.

Buffalo City Hall Tour 9-11 am

Buffalo's City Hall building is one of Buffalo’s most significant architectural treasures. One of the largest city halls in America, this tour will give you the opportunity to see this Art Deco masterpiece inside and out. The tour normally includes the lobby, Common Council Chambers, the Mayor’s Office, and the best view of Buffalo on the Observation Deck. Recently named one of the “100 Things Every Western New Yorker Should Do At Least Once” by the Buffalo News, the Buffalo City Hall tour covers the history of the building, the architectural elements, and takes you behind the scenes to view some of the best features of this art deco masterpiece.

iDESIGN Solutions 9-11 am

At this hands-on Immersive Experience we will talk about VEX robotics, drones, littleBits, Cubetto, Ozobots, 3D printing and laser engravers, and participants will get to drive and experience the new Vex Robotics game for 2019-20. iDESIGN Solutions is an authorized reseller of many educational products that include VEX robotics, 3D printers, littleBits, drones and much more and has been providing schools with educational products since 2000.

Northland Workforce Training Center 12-2 pm

Learn about Buffalo’s newest workforce training super center! The approximately 80,000 square-foot- facility houses administrative space, classrooms, and industrial shops/labs designed to train and turn out highly-skilled members of the local workforce to meet the requirements of the 21st century advanced manufacturing and electric utility industries. This industry-driven training facility is focused on closing the skills gap of the local labor pool while also creating on-ramps to training, co-ops, internships, apprenticeships, and permanent employment for Western New Yorkers seeking advanced manufacturing and energy careers. www.northlandwtc.org

Challenger Learning Center of Lockport 12-2 pm

Experience a unique STEAM field trip where each participant becomes a member of the crew and has a specific job to make the mission a success. Participants will assume the role of a mission specialist operating a space station and mission control and must keep the crew safe while facing various problems and challenges. Flying a simulated mission is not only fun, but it's also a great exercise for the development of Problem Solving, Team-work, Math, Science, Art and Technology Process Skills. Mission activities are also based on curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Explore & More Canalside 12-2 pm

On this Immersive experience we will get a guided tour of this all-new 43,000 square foot world-class children’s museum! Explore & More Canalside takes play seriously, with four floors of fun to explore with hands-on interactives that encourage children aged 0-12 to learn through play. The Museum features seven educational play zones that offer hands-on exhibits that tell the unique story of Buffalo and what makes us proud to be from Western New York. The Museum’s zones reveal stories of our region’s history, geography, culture, agriculture, architecture, athletics, commerce and innovation through exhibits that celebrate the power and benefits of play.

  • Participants provide their own transportation.
  • Please arrive on time as we cannot hold the start times of tours and programs.
  • Space is limited; register today!
