Welcome to the new members of the Emerging Teacher Institute 2024-2025
Welcome to the Toolbox for Teachers
Much of teaching is about helping students learn to collaborate and use content to solve problems in their lives and the world. There is good reason for that. A large body of research shows that when students learn together their learning goes deeper and is retained longer. Peers who learn together address and clarify misunderstandings, increase higher-order analytical skills, understand diverse perspectives, and are more likely to put learning into practice.
So doesn't it make sense for teachers to do the exact same thing? When teachers collaborate, not only do we learn more about pedagogies that best support our students and lead to higher student achievement, but we grow as learners, too!
Plus, teacher collaboration lowers teacher stress and improves morale. Collaboration gives us tools to make work more manageable. Sometimes it's the materials we share with each other; sometimes it's the support we receive; and sometimes it's having the space to speak freely to our peers and navigate challenges. Overall, collaboration is directly correlated to feelings of support and success as educators.
Let's collaborate! Use EdCo's Toolbox for Teachers to find a resource, share a professional development opportunity, participate in a learning community, and access a shared repository of resources on instructional strategies, DEI resources, education research, and fun activities.
Recognition of One of Our Own!
Any time an EdCo teacher makes an impact, we want to celebrate them! As each others' support system and community, we need to share and celebrate our growth and wins.
So congratulations
