1:00-2:15 INTERVENTIONS AND SMALL GROUPS

  • Please look out for an invitation for any intervention lessons and small group lessons. Tier 3 and other special services that students need will be given during this time.

  • If you are not invited, you will work on independent work such as Lexia (for ELA) and Dreambox (for math). You will log into these websites from Clever using your google username and password. Lexia and Dreambox are both individualized and customized program to meet your child's academic skills. It will adjust the lessons and practices based on your child's performance and will create the adaptive learning path. These are very effective and powerful tools that are available for us. However, these programs will lose their effectiveness if you help your child. Please have them work on these programs independently without providing academic support. It is highly recommend that students use these programs daily. Spending a long period of time in one sitting is proven to be an ineffective way to use these programs. Please make sure that sounds are on while students are using these programs.

  • These are the minimum requirements:

        • Dreambox - at least 1 lesson a day daily (M-F).

        • Lexia - at least 20 min. a day daily (M-F)

  • Please remember that students are doing assignments to learn and not to just complete. If the learning does not happen while students complete assignments, it will not support students academic growth.

After School

  • It is SO important for students to read at least 20 min. consecutively every night. For the beginning of the year, this will look like parent reading to child. As the year progresses, this will switch and the students should be reading to the parents. Don't forget to ask lots of questions over what your child read to help guide comprehension.

  • When you work on sight words at home, please don't forget to have them write the words as well as reading them.
