Pre-Kindergarten is a voluntary program offered to students who are at least four years of age on or before September 1 of the current year and meet the program qualifications. 

Pre-kindergarten will be offered at the Academy of Leadership & Technology at Mound, Brock Elementary, Frazier Elementary, Norwood Environmental Science Academy, and Taylor Elementary.

Qualifications

Children entering pre-kindergarten must be at least four years old on or before September 1, 2023, AND meet one or more of the following criteria:   

• Child has Limited English Proficiency – Language test will take place to determine language proficiency

• Child is economically disadvantaged – Based on a sliding scale of annual income per household member (proof of household income for past 2 months required or a copy of current food stamp letter)

• Child is Homeless – As determined by BISD’s Student Residency Questionnaire

• Child of an active duty, injured, or deceased member of the US military – DOD/VA documentation required

• Child who is in or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services – CPS/court documentation required

• Child of a Star of Texas Awarded parent

Application and Registration

How to apply:

• Complete an online pre-kindergarten application at BURLESONISD.SCHOOLMINT.NET. Once you complete the application, a BISD representative will contact you to assist with the qualification process. 

• Once you qualify, you will then complete the enrollment packet at SKYWARD NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT. If you currently have a student enrolled in the district, you can log into SKYWARD FAMILY ACCESS using your current Skyward username and password and select the New Student Registration tab.

• Upon completion of the online enrollment packet, you will complete the registration process with your child’s assigned campus.

Documents Needed

The following documents will need to be electronically uploaded during the enrollment process:

• Student's birth certificate

• Social security card (optional)

• Current immunization records

• Proof of residency: Current electric or water bill AND a lease agreement or tax statement with current address

• Parent/Guardian's driver's license or picture ID

Kindergarten is a full-day program offered at all elementary schools.  
If your child will be five years old on or before September 1, 2024, it’s time to register for kindergarten!

• • Complete online registration at SKYWARD NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT. If you currently have a student enrolled in the district, you can log into SKYWARD FAMILY ACCESS using your current Skyward username and password and select the New Student Registration tab.  You will need your student’s home campus to register. To determine your home campus, visit FIND MY SCHOOL.

• How do I know what school is my home campus?  

To find your home campus (your zoned school), visit School Search. Only select elementary campuses have a Pre-K program.

• Which schools in BISD will have Pre-K for the 2024-2025 school year?

Academy of Leadership & Technology at Mound, Brock Elementary, Frazier Elementary, Norwood Environmental Science Academy, and Taylor Elementary. 

• If my home campus does not have Pre-K, then where will I attend?

BISD staff will assign students to campuses based on enrollment numbers and proximity to the home campus.

• Will my Pre-K child be able to return to their home campus for Kindergarten?

Yes, all students will return to their home campus at the end of the year since kindergarten is offered at all BISD elementary campuses.

• Will Pre-K fill up and not have a seat for my child?

No, every child in BISD who qualifies will have a spot in Pre-K.

• Do I need to buy a uniform for my student?

No

Vestimenta estandarizada de Burleson ISD

Las pautas de vestimenta estandarizadas de Burleson ISD se establecen para enseñar aseo e higiene, evitar interrupciones y minimizar los riesgos de seguridad.

Pautas generales

Los estudiantes deben usar ropa que les quede bien:

● Las camisas deben tocar la cintura en el frente, la espalda y los costados.

● Los pantalones, jeans, shorts/faldas deben llegar a la mitad del muslo o más largos, cuando se ajusten a la cintura natural. Si los pantalones/jeans están deshilachados, rasgados o desgarrados por encima de la mitad del muslo,se deben usar mallones debajo. Solo se pueden usar mallones/pantalones de yoga (aparte de  debajo de los pantalones/jeans) si también se usa una camisa/vestido que llega hasta la mitad del muslo.

● Zapatos apropiados para actividades al aire libre y bajo techo.

 Los estudiantes no pueden usar:

● Accesorios que puedan representar un riesgo de peligro para otros;

● Artículos con imágenes o eslóganes provocativos, ofensivos, violentos o relacionados con las drogas, así como aquellos que anuncian bebidas alcohólicas o productos de tabaco;

● Pijamas o pantuflas; o

● Trajes de baño (a menos que se requieran como parte de una actividad escolar).

Tenga en cuenta: todas las decisiones administrativas del edificio con respecto a la vestimenta de los estudiantes son definitivas.  Los estudiantes que no cumplan con el código de vestimenta estarán sujetos a intervenciones disciplinarias.  La ropa aprobada bajo las pautas de vestimenta estandarizadas anteriores sigue siendo apropiada para la escuela.
