The course traces the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as students learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems.

7th Grade:

In this hands-on course, students will be introduced to many life skills while gaining independence as we explore the creative process while working in teams and individually. Students will practice a variety of cooking styles, techniques and explore opportunities in the culinary field as well as practice using media technology to learn about nutrition and real world budgeting scenarios. They will explore the garden and learn to grow food used in the classroom. Finally, students will learn to sew by hand, creating their own ugly doll monster and sewing kit.

8th Grade:

This course has a separate curriculum from the 7th grade class and is designed to address the skills and concerns of an 8th grader getting ready to make the transition to high school. Using lessons based on national and state Family and Consumer Science Education (FACSE) standards, classes are project oriented, coupled with applied academic coursework so that students will develop knowledge and skills needed in making choices to meet their personal growth goals.  Students will explore global cuisine, nutrition, and budgeting as well as farm to table gardening objectives. Students will also receive instruction on using a sewing machine to construct a clothing item as well as make simple repairs on their own clothing.

*Please note: Woodward kitchens are NOT allergy free.
