The 2024 Technology Applications TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) are designed to equip students with the essential digital literacy and technology skills needed for success in the modern world. These standards ensure that students are proficient in using technology to solve problems, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others. The new TEKS are divided into five key sections:
Computational Thinking
Computational Thinking
Developing students' ability to think critically and solve problems using computational methods. It includes learning to write and understand code, develop algorithms, and apply programming concepts to create solutions.
Creativity & Innovation

Students will learn to use digital tools to express themselves creatively and innovate. This includes creating digital content such as multimedia presentations, digital art, and interactive projects that showcase their creativity and originality.
Data literacy, management & representation

Emphasizes the importance of understanding and working with data. Students will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret data, as well as how to use data to make informed decisions and solve real-world problems.
Digital Citizenship

Students will learn about the ethical and responsible use of technology. This includes understanding digital privacy, security, and the impact of technology on society. Students will also learn about their rights and responsibilities as digital citizens and how to collaborate and communicate effectively online.

Covers the foundational knowledge and skills needed to use technology effectively. Students will learn about different types of hardware and software, how to troubleshoot common issues, and the basics of network and internet operations
