Here, we have created some resources for all schools to use. As the name suggests, these are fun, informative, simple and relatable stories for children. When we say relatable stories, we mean stories that children from rural and semi-urban backgrounds in India can relate to. Often when one looks for stories for young children, we don't realise it, but these stories are very foreign stories, that a child from a rural in India won't exactly relate to or understand. For example, most stories and nursery rhymes have foreign names, they represent and refer to foreign culture, the characters are white and usually, the problems are not familiar. We have managed to find stories that either anyone can relate to, no matter where you come from. The names are more Indianised and the plot is easier to realte to!
We found these stories on StoryWeaver, a great site that has stories of all kinds and levels. We would be delighted if you could take five minutes to find a story on StoryWeaver, or any site you know of, and upload a recording of you reading it. Once you have the final recording, you can add it to the Padlet attached below. Remember these stories must be something a child from a rural background in India can relate to. Please upload it under the category you feel it falls under on the Padlet. Don't forget to mention the author, illustrator and the site you found it on. Anyone may use these videos to show to children. Kindly use the Padlet respectfully and do not, use it for other purposes.
Important: Please do be mindful and do not repeat stories that are already on the padlet.
