Some of our students will be planning to be in the Nepal Team from a young age but we recognise that many of the students join Birkdale at 6th form and this can make planning for Nepal more challenging.
In the first instance, the best thing to do is speak to someone that has been on our trip and fortunately there are many of our staff have been to Nepal, as part of the Birkdale team and can offer sage advice for anyone interested in listening.
The Nepal experience is led by Mr Watchman and you can contact him directly at stwatchman@birkdaleschool.org.uk
Sometimes it is also just easier to talk things through, so please call the main school reception and ask to speak to a member of staff about Nepal.
Numbers of students on the trip are limited and places, as you can imagine are sought after, so we do have to set out an application process each year.
Dr Anne Tunbridge, Consultant in Infectious Diseases, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals was kind enough to put together these top tips for the 2025 Birkdale trip. Outlining some of the key health considerations it is a good first glance at what you might need to consider.
Plan early by contacting your GP to find out what you might need to do regarding vacines and personal medical care.
