Welcome to Birdville!
These days were specially designed from feedback provided by teachers and administrators. We want to help ensure a very successful start to a school year for each of you. Each of the New Teacher Academy days will earn you hours of CPE (continuing professional education) credits and will go towards helping you fulfill the required time needed to take the Flex Days later in this school year (14 hours are needed total). Check out this page that you're currently on and also hop on over to the New Hires page to see ways you can get plugged in before the year starts.
You should register yourself for each of the following events if you have your BISD credentials (computer username and password). If you have not established your Eduphoria profile, that is also needed before you can register yourself: Getting started in Eduphoria.

Nest Fest is designed for teachers who are new to Birdville ISD or getting started with our digital learning tools.

This experience is built to support your first years in the district by helping you learn the systems, tools, and expectations used in Birdville classrooms. You’ll leave with a clear starting point and a better understanding of how digital tools and curriculum work together to support student learning.

Nest Fest is a one-day, hands-on experience where you’ll build confidence with the tools and strategies used across the district.
Sessions are grounded in district curriculum and also focus on the digital tools that support instruction, including platforms for lesson delivery, interactive displays, and classroom management. You’ll have time to explore, practice, and apply what you learn so it directly translates to your classroom.

You’ll work with both curriculum-aligned examples and the digital tools used across the district, so you leave with ideas you can use right away.

Nest Fest gives you the tools to support student learning from day one, so you’re ready to press play on a strong start to the year.
Please bring your BISD laptop to each of the days of New Teacher Academy, if possible.
BISD laptops will be issued to you at your HR on-boarding / document drop-off day.
They will not be issued at Nest Fest or New Teacher Academy.
You must ensure you are able to fully log into your BISD laptop before leaving HR's on-boarding day. Use of your BISD laptop will be essential to New Teacher Academy.
Locations each day vary depending on your job/role.
July 29 - You will travel for your lunch and then will travel for your afternoon session.
July 30 - You will be at a department-specific location.

We will cover some new employee pieces and allow for some hands-on time with digital learning tools. If you go to Nest Fest, this will be different than what you got to learn at Nest Fest. You will also spend time with your campus administration on this day.

We will cover some classroom processes and procedures - differentiated by grade level needs (PK-5, 6-8, and 9-12).
This afternoon will provide an opportunity for all First Year Teachers to meet and spend time with their mentor.

Snacks and some meals will be provided throughout the New Teacher Academy (July 29 - 31).
We cannot guarantee that the food we order from outside vendors will be completely free from ingredients you may be allergic to. We will try our best to accommodate when possible.
