Welcome to the Richmond Campus. This campus is comprised of a singular building with a total of 13 learning spaces, a quad-pack relocatable unit with 4 additional learning spaces, and our outdoor land-lab arena that contains greenhouses, shade houses, and horticulture spaces. This point-of-entry is our visitor check-in area and also serves as the hub stop for our inter-campus shuttle system.
The STEM Center is our multi-purpose room used for presentations, lunch, assemblies, project work space, and home to the BioBAR and our Saltwater Learning Lab. It is not uncommon to find students collaborating in this space throughout the day. The space has full
Wi-Fi and electrical stations throughout to keep our students' devices charged and online. While the vibrant walls establish an uplifting space to keep students engaged, it is also of value to note that the BioBAR and the stage backdrop were constructed entirely out of recycled shipping pallet wood.
Our classrooms at Richmond Campus are designed for collaborative work. We've eliminated all of the traditional student desks and our teachers encourage students to engage in group learning. This classroom is one of our English/Language Arts classrooms. All classroom spaces have Wi-Fi and electrical jacks to keep students charged and online. The use of wireless devices is encouraged by all teachers in all classes.
Our Mac Photo Lab is home to our Wildlife Photography Studio, Film Courses, and AP Studio Art Courses. The room boasts all Mac computers with Apple TV's connected to wall-mounted TV's and the Promethian board so that students can engage in collaborative work. Each station has a dedicated TV and each student is provided with a dedicated Cannon DSLR camera with a vast assortment of lenses, tripods, mounts, jigs, and filters. Students travel to Zoo Miami once every two weeks during the Wildlife Photography course in order to capture the image files they will then use in the Studio. Students completing the Wildlife Photography course will have a chance at earning Adobe Industry Certification as an Adobe Certified Associate. Those completing the AP Studio Art Course may earn College Credit.
The Clean Room is an annex room within the Micropropagation/Tissue Culture Laboratory. This room boasts our two Laminar Flow Hoods equipped with UV Sterilizers and HEPA filters. Students engage in the micropropagation of tissue samples from a wide array of native orchid species once found only in Everglades National Park. In collaboration with scientists throughout the country, BioTECH students will soon be utilizing the space to propagate tissue samples from Vanilla orchids as well.
