The Savage Laboratory, under the direction of Dr. Lisa Savage, studies memory disorders in pre-clinical rodent models at multiple levels of analysis: behavioral, synaptic, cellular and circuitry. We employ a range of technical approaches (neuroanatomical, biochemical, electrophysiological, chemogenetic and behavioral assessment) to understand how memory is altered by malnourishment, alcoholism, and aging. One of our goals is to tap the neural plasticity that remains after brain trauma to gain recovery of function.
