The town of Greenburgh, like many diverse towns in northern states, has an often overlooked history of racial discrimination and segregation that still affects residents today.
Project contributor Sophie Jost grew up in Greenburgh. She saw firsthand how different each area was, both racially and economically. Using her experiences to help guide us, we explored the history of both Edgemont and Fairview, mapping the disparities between the two. Through this, we were able to uncover systemic differences that have molded the modern makeup of the two areas.
