Describe your plan of action and how each of your four chosen competencies will influence its design and implementation.
I plan to create resources using google tools and seesaw. My purpose is to increase equity among staff and students. I want staff to have some equitable, and basic skills to use the platforms that are being used school/district wide and I want student to have equitable access to the technology because their teachers have proper training. I will be continuing my own education and improving my technological facility by attending trainings and participating in online professional communities. I will then take what I have learned to create and share resources with others. I will be working closely with teachers in my building and asking for their input on what they would like to be
Stakeholders
How will your leadership leverage the strengths and address the needs of diverse stakeholders to support the plan of action, develop capacity, broaden decision-making, and learn collaboratively?
I will use my needs assessment to invite input from teachers, parents, and administrators. I want a clear picture of what is needed to help teachers utilize technology in their day to day classrooms. We have the resources, but students have vastly different sets of skills. I want to speak with all these stakeholders to find what would be the best course of action to help students have equitable access and gain skills that will make them competitive as they begin to enter the work force. I will be learning alongside stakeholders and I will be tailoring the resources I create to their needs. I will seek out learning and training for myself to be better able to address those needs.
How will you use collaboration, questioning, data, and reflection during the implementation of your action plan?
I will be working closely with teachers and creating resources for them. By looking at the data in my needs assessment I can begin to see what would be most beneficial. In staff meetings I will ask what teachers feel they need to know to be more effective with technology. I will offer to provide training (see evidence C) and I will offer to set up times to sit with teachers in small groups or one-on-one to help them set up and implement the technology they want to use. I will also be collaborating with a group of Third grade teachers to create online content for multiplication and division for our whole school district to utilize (see evidence B and D).
A team of third grade teachers and I worked to create digital content that could be easily utilized across the district.
On November 12th, I met with a teacher. moving from first to third grade to discuss technology platforms that could be integrated into the 3rd grade curriculum.
This is a math test I created in google forms with another third grade teacher that was shared with other teachers in the district.
How will you address obstacles that you may encounter in implementing your plan?
One obstacle I foresee is teachers that feel this is "one more thing" they are expected to do or teach outside of the curriculum. My goal is to begin by creating resources they can utilize with very little work on their part, and to make sure it is a resource that can be implemented in their classroom without taking time away from core subjects. The resources I create will need to be tweaked for different ages and grades, and the amount of support given to the teacher will vary. If a training is hosted before or after school on a certain day or at a certain time that my exclude some teachers from having this knowledge. I would like to create short video tutorials that teachers can watch at their leisure.
How will you know if your action plan is successful? What evidence would support your claim?
I will ask for feedback from teachers after pushing out a resource. Questions will include: have they used it? What it helpful for them? Was there something they did not like or wish was different? I want to empower the teachers to speak out and voice their concerns so I can improve upon what I am doing and meet their needs. Evidence that I am successful would include: verbal or written feedback on if they are able to use resources or are having success using them, viewer counts and likes to see if a resource is being used.
