Greatest Accomplishment: Making the team my freshman year with no cheer experience and being selected as an All American cheerleader my senior year.

Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself for High School?Don’t let other people’s opinions of you hold you back from being the best version of yourself

Who is your idol and why? My parents are my biggest role models because they work so hard and are always there for me. They always support me and I love seeing them in the stands cheering for me.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to your fellow underclassmen cheerleaders? Don’t be afraid to stand up and say something if you don’t think it’s right.

What is something you want to tell your coaches? Tayler - Thank you for taking a chance on me freshman year. I have learned a lot from this program. I appreciate everything you have taught me.

Final Thoughts: I have loved cheering for West the past four years. Cheer has been such a big part of my high school career, and I am very grateful for the amazing memories. Although I will miss cheering, I am excited for a new adventure. GO BEARS!!

Name: Emily Anne Pennington

Years on Squad: 4

Favorite Memory:  Emily has loved every minute of cheer from working hard at practices to performing in front of her friends in the student section.

Favorite Stunt: Emily enjoys watching her fellow teammates perform fall down. Although she is unable to stunt, she gets the crowd involved with her big smiles, enthusiastic rallys, and countless large high kicks.

Favorite Food: Cheeseburgers with tots and a vanilla shake.

Favorite Movie: Any of the Pirates of the Caribbean

Favorite Netflix Binge: Arrow

Future Plans: Emily plans on finding a job that includes two of her loves, working with kids and horses. She also plans on working with her mom in the warehouse and helping customers at the store.

Greatest Accomplishment: Emily was glad she was able to attend West High her Senior year. She has worked hard in her classes to learn skills that will help her hold a good job and give back to the community that has been so supportive of her.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Emily wants to be a lot of things when she grows up, but they all seem to involve country music, horses, and the USA.

Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself for High School? Don’t procrastinate doing your homework or eat two lunches just because it's free. Thanks a lot COVID!

Who is your idol and why? Emily’s Mom and Dad are her idols and also her biggest fans. They have taught her it’s important to be tough, work hard, always do what’s right, and make sure every day is the best day of her life.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to your fellow underclassmen cheerleaders? Have fun, keep trying, and never give up.

What is something you want to tell your coaches? Thank you for all the laughs, support, and encouragement these past 4 years. Being a varsity cheerleader is a dream come true. Thank you for being a part of my Senior year, it’s been the best year of my life!

What is something you want to tell your coaches? I am incredibly thankful for all of the time you have contributed and sacrificed for me and the team!

Favorite Memory: Summer Camp in Utah junior year! I got to room with a few of my best friends where we stayed up way too late laughing and making the best memories ever #moonblastaaa

Future Plans: I plan on going to nursing school next year out of state! I’m not sure where yet, but preferably somewhere sunny :)

Greatest Accomplishment: Earning the Chemistry Merit Award in honors and AP chem! 

What do you want to be when you grow up? Neonatal Nurse Practitioner! 

Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself for High School? Never lose sight of yourself and what your heart wants. Don’t stress too much and remember to live in the moment! 

Who is your idol and why? My mom. I aspire to be as genuine, hardworking, selfless, and loving as her every day. She is my best friend, and I don’t know where I would be without her today <3

What is one piece of advice that you would give to your fellow underclassmen cheerleaders? Bring your best energy to every game because it really does make a difference, and makes every game so much more fun. Work hard to achieve new stunts and build trust with your teammates. Cheer loud, smile big, and show the fans your biggest bear pride :)

What is something you want to tell your coaches? THANK YOU! The West High cheer program has built and shaped the cheerleader I am today. Tayler, you have dedicated so much time and effort into helping us every step of the way, and I am so grateful to have had you as a coach! I will never forget all the lessons and memories I have learned in these past four years being a West High cheerleader.  

Final Thoughts: I am forever grateful to my coaches, the greatest teammates anyone could ask for, and the best student section in the state. All the freezing football and soccer games were definitely worth it. There really ain’t no party like a West High party <3 #GOBEARS4LIFE

Favorite Memory: My favorite memory was going to breakfast and going shopping with Varsity during state Volleyball. 

Favorite Stunt: My favorite stunt is a ruby slipper heel stretch full down.

Favorite Food: My favorite food is fruit. Some of my favorites are raspberries and pineapple. 

Favorite Movie: My favorite movie is The Grinch.

Favorite Netflix Binge: My favorite netflix binge was the Jeffrey Dahmer Series.

Future Plans: My future plans are to move to Scottsdale, Arizona and attend esthetician school at Penrose Academy. 

Greatest Accomplishment: My greatest accomplishment has been obtaining straight As all year.

What do you want to be when you grow up? When I grow up, I want to be an esthetician and own a Medical Spa.

Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself for High School? Looking back, advice that I would give myself for High School would be to have more fun. 

Who is your idol and why? My idol is my mom because she is nice, caring, and compassionate. 

What is one piece of advice that you would give to your fellow underclassmen cheerleaders? A piece of advice that I would give my fellow underclassmen cheerleaders is to not be afraid to try new things.
