Congratulations to the MMS and MHS Band students that attended the ASBOA Region 3 Solo & Ensemble Assessment held at Star City High School on Thursday, April 4th. 28 Students attended and all 28 students received a medal for their solo performances. 24 students received a 1st division Superior rating and 4 received a 2nd division Excellent rating.

The Monticello High School Band attended the ASBOA Region 3 Concert Assessment today at White Hall High School. The band received all 1st division superior ratings for their prepared stage performance and a 2nd division excellent rating for their sight-reading performance.

Congratulations to MHS Billie Band student Abby Mingo for auditioning and ultimately making the Arkansas All State Bands. Abby made the Concert Band 9th chair flute. We are very proud of her and the other students that auditioned for the all state bands at UCA in Conway on February 3rd.

The Monticello High School Band attended the ASBOA Region 3 Marching Band Assessment at White Hall High School on Tuesday, October 17th. The band received 1st division superior ratings from the 3 adjudicators at the assessment. This makes the 14th time in that the MHS Band has received an overall 1st division rating at the Region Marching Band Assessment over the last 14 times they have attended the event.

We are very happy to announce that we received first division, superior ratings, from all 3 judges. This was the first marching assessment/contest that we've attended since 2019 (Fall before COVID began) and it was a very successful trip.

The MHS Band attended the ASBOA Region 3 Marching Assessment tonight, which was held at Camden Fairview High School. The MHS Band received 1st division superior ratings from all 3 judges, giving them a 1st division rating overall. This was the 11th consecutive year that the MHS Band has received a superior rating at this assessment.

Congratulations to the members of the Monticello High School Billie Band for their achievement last night in El Dorado at the Region III Concert Assessment. The band received all superior ratings on stage and superior performance in sight-reading. This score, combined with a superior rating in marching assessment, awards them with their TENTH CONSECUTIVE SWEEPSTAKES. A sweepstakes is the highest honor a school band in Arkansas can receive.

The MHS Band attended the ASBOA Region 3 Marching Assessment last night which was held in the Warren Middle School gymnasium, due to rain. The MHS Band received  1st division superior ratings from the 3 judges, giving them a 1st division rating overall. This was the 10th consecutive year that the MHS Band has received a superior rating at this assessment.

The Monticello High School Band attended the ASBOA Region 3 Concert Band Assessment on March 15th at Sheridan High School. The band received all 1st division superior ratings for their stage performance and a 1st division superior rating for their sight-reading performance. These ratings combined with the 1st division rating at the Marching Band Assessment in the Fall gives the MHS Band the Sweepstakes Award for the 9th consecutive year.

Congratulations to the Monticello High School Band on their performance and award at the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association Region 3 Marching Band Assessment at White Hall High School on Tuesday, October 27th. The MHS Band received all 1st Division Superior ratings from the judges. These assessment scores put the band in the running for a 7th consecutive Sweepstakes Band Award. The MHS Band's 2015 show was entitled "British Rock", featuring the songs Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Let It Be/Hey Jude, and Stairway to Heaven. The majorette coach is Tommie Palsa, the flag coach is Autumn Webb, and the percussion coach is Taylor Stewart.

Congratulations to the Monticello High School Band on their performance and award at the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association Region 3 Marching Band Assessment at Watson Chapel on Tuesday, October 28th. The MHS Band received all 1st Division Superior ratings from the judges. These assessment scores put our band in the running for a 6th consecutive Sweepstakes Band Award. The 2014 show was entitled "Flashback Friday". The majorettes are coached by Tommie Palsa, the flags are coached by Autumn Webb and the percussion is coached by Kyle Cooper.

Congratulations to the MHS Billie Band for their successful performance at the Ouachita Valley Invitational marching contest in Camden on Saturday night. Awards received were a 1st division rating for drum major, a 1st division rating for auxiliaries, a 1st division rating for percussion and a 1st division rating for band. The flags and majorettes were awarded Best in Class AAA auxiliaries and the MHS Band won the overall outstanding marching technique and overall outstanding general effect awards for the contest.

The band received all 1st division superior ratings for their stage performance and a 1st division superior rating for their sight-reading performance. Congratulations to the MHS Band for their ratings and awards at the 2 marching contests they attended. At the Ouachita Valley Invitational contest, the MHS Band received 1st division ratings for Drum Majors, Percussion, Auxiliaries and Band. The flags and majorettes were awarded the Best in Class AAA Auxiliaries and also the Overall Outstanding Auxiliaries for the entire contest. 

The MHS Band also received all 1st division ratings at the ASBOA Region 3 Marching Assessment. The 2013 show was entitled "Motown Hits".

Congratulations to the Monticello High School Band on their performance and awards at the Ouachita Valley Invitational marching contest on Saturday, October 20th. The band received 1st division superior ratings for auxiliaries, drum major, percussion and full band. The percussion was awarded the Class AAA Outstanding percussion section. Drum Major, Matt Cater, won the award for Class AAA Outstanding drum major. The band was also awarded the Class AAA outstanding band. On top of those awards, the MHS Band won Overall Outstanding Marching Technique, Overall Outstanding Musical Performance and was named the Grand Champion of the entire contest. Congratulations to this fantastic group of students on this amazing achievement.

The Monticello High School Band finished their competitive marching year today. The band attended three marching contests this fall, the Lake Hamilton Power Band Classic, the Forrest City Invitational and the Region 3 Marching Assessment at U of A Monticello. 

Lake Hamilton Power Band Classic--1st division band, 1st division auxiliaries, 1st division percussion, 3rd place in class AAAA, Outstanding auxiliaries in Class AAAA, 7th place band in Finals competition

Forrest City Invitational--1st division band, 1st division flagline, 1st division majorettes, 1st division percussion, 2nd place in Class B, Outstanding Soloist in Class B for the Trumpet Trio-John Bonfanti, Walker Jarrett, Matthew Montgomery

The Monticello High School Band attended the Region 4 Concert Band Assessment in Camden on Thursday, March 17th. The band received a 1st division superior rating in the prepared concert performance and received a 1st division superior rating in the concert sight-reading performance. These awards combined with the 1st division superior rating from the marching band assessment in the fall gives the Monticello HS Band the Sweepstakes Award for 2010-11.

Monticello HS Band received 1st division ratings from all 3 band judges, a 1st division for drum major, a 1st division for percussion, and a 1st division for auxiliaries.

March 5, 2010

The Monticello HS Band received all 1st division ratings on stage and in sight-reading at the Region 4  Concert Assessment on March 5th. This gives the MHS Band the  Sweepstakes Award for 2009-2010. The band received 1st division ratings  from every judge at region marching and concert assessments this year. The MHS Band's concert program consisted of Military Escort march, On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, and Celtic Ritual.

The  MHS Band's 2009 marching band show will be the Music of Bond, James  Bond. The band performed at two marching contests this year, the  Ouachita Valley Invitational and the Region 4 marching assessment. The band received a 1st division rating from all judges at Region  Assessment. The band received all 1st division ratings for the band, a  2nd division for Drum Major, a 1st division for Auxiliaries, and a 1st  division for Percussion. They also won Outstanding Band, Auxiliaries  and Percussion in Class AAA. In addition to those awards, they won  Overall Auxiliaries, Percussion and General Effect for the entire  contest.

April Greenway is the 1st alternate clarinet and Travon Block is the 4th alternate baritone.
