This section offers you my takeaway and my answer to the following discussion activity being sent during the day of discussion of this topic.
What is Grading and Reporting?
Grading is the process where a teacher is assessing student work and assigning a value that reflects their performance and Reporting is when the teacher communicates the grades to their students and guardians. These are the process a teacher can use to assess or evaluate student's performance this are integral to our education system to monitor if there is aa progress and to easily track the student academic progress and to also identify their strengths and areas that needs to be improve. It also provides feedback not just to parent and student but also to the teacher to notice if they their strategy to teach is effective.
There are three qualities that contribute to building grading and reporting this includes validity to ensure that grades accurately reflect the student's knowledge and skills. reliability means that grading is consistent and replicable across different assessments and evaluators and quantity.

Here is my answer to the discussion activity during the day of discussion.
Instruction: In grading and reporting (i.e. the ones reflected in report cards for example), what should a teacher count: achievement or effort too? Justify your answer.
Since once primary objective of grading and reporting is communication for me teacher should count both achievement and effort since it may become one of the factors for them to effectively communicate the progress of the child not just only for the students but also for their parents during their parent and teacher conference (PTA) these data from their learning achievement and effort can be part of teacher's documentation to evaluate them. Additionally, grading and reporting is not easy for teacher since they should have lot of data and evidence for them to give a quality, reliable and valid basis for them to give successful grading and reporting. Students achievement and effort in attending the class , participating in classroom activities as well as their efforts not just in their assignments and projects or output but their effort to show their enthusiasm to learn should be counted since in some cases, as a teacher you should look not only in their achievement only but it should be balance, remember that some achievement is not because of one's own effort and if they don't exist effort of course they are not the reason of their achievement.
Moreover, there are purposes of grading and reporting and of course for a teacher to have it successful there should be an array of possible sources and these two may become a source. By considering both achievement and effort in grading and reporting, teachers can effectively communicate and provide a more holistic evaluation of their performance. This kind of approach fosters a deeper understanding of students' capabilities and encourages a balanced perspective on success of grading and reporting.
