Honor Bands
Honor bands serve to provide middle and high school band members with challenging musical experiences that they might not have access to in their local school band programs. For high schools students, participation can be a helpful tool in building a resume for scholarship applications and to help make connections with university band staff members. While all Bibb County band members are encouraged to participate in honor bands, it is important to remember that commitments to the Bibb County band supercede any and all honor bands; therefore, Mr. Fields reserves the right to limit student participation in the event that an honor band would interfere with a scheduled band activity. Also, since many honor bands require time away from school, it is expected that band members will maintain good grades in all classes to continue to be allowed to participate in honor bands.
Please note that while the band/band boosters may choose to cover part or all of the registration fees, students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from rehearsals and any meal costs. Also, DO NOT apply if you cannot commit to being in attendance for the entirety of the honor band!
Please note that the Band Boosters have generously have agreed to cover registration fees for students accepted to honor bands, however students must still cover any application/audition fees that are charged. If you accept a position in an honor band and back out after your registration fee has been paid, you will be responsible for reimbursing the Band Boosters for the cost of your registration fee.
