Although both sets were extremely close, St. Mark won the first set 25-27 and took the final victory with the second set 23-25. This loss puts the sixth-grade team with zero victories. Tennis Review BVMS Crosscountry
Why You Should Play Tennis
by Jack Sherry
Tennis is a brilliant game for every age that is certain to make you sweat. With its exceptional varieties of courts, players, and skill levels, no game of tennis is ever the same. This makes it a diverse sport with players from all over the globe. Additionally, no matter who you play, tennis will ensure you have a fun time, and it is a fantastic way to pass the time or if you are looking for a brand new sport to try out. Tennis has a ton of health and social advantages, with its popularity constantly growing. Enough said, here are three reasons why you should play tennis.
First off, as I mentioned before, tennis has a remarkable impact on your health. Tennis requires many physical skills like agility, endurance, balance, coordination, speed, and many others to succeed. This shows that tennis is physically demanding and never fails to give you a fantastic workout. The average person burns 600 calories per hour playing the game. This game guarantees that you will become very fit and strong with all the running required and shoulder involvement you have by constantly swinging your racket. Tennis also keeps your body and mind engaged, which is essential as you age. Tennis is a great sport if you want to work out, and it will brighten your day.
Second, the chance of you getting injured in tennis is lower than in other notorious sports like football, basketball, or soccer. While many of these injuries can be harmless, these sports can result in significant injuries and the risk of going to the hospital. Tennis, however, has a lower injury rate because there is rarely any player contact with each other which gets rid of a lot of common injuries that could occur. Also, a tennis court can hold a maximum of four people playing at once, so there is a ton more space to run around, which decreases the chance of bumping into someone or falling. The risk that you will be injured during a game of tennis is relatively low, which explains why older athletes can still play very well even in their senior years.
The last reason you should play tennis is that it has many mental benefits that reflect real life. For example, tennis has a lot of conditions that are possible when playing (ex: wind, heat, the crowd, pressure, etc.). This means that tennis players have to overcome these conditions and learn that you can't control everything and that they should focus on the things they can control (strategy, overall performance, etc...). This is very reflective in real life, and tennis is a great sport to develop your mental strength. Also, when you lose a match, you must learn to overcome it and that it won't determine the rest of your career. Instead, you know to get back into the rhythm and focus on getting better
In conclusion, those are three main reasons why you should play tennis and how much impact it can have on your life.

X-Country Fall 2022
By Edward Morrison
This Cross country season has been a good one for our BVMS athletes. This season thankfully was not as short as last year's season. It was so much more exciting than I had anticipated.
This year will be head coach Emilio Lari's last season as Cross country coach. As a runner for the team, I appreciated his time as a coach, and I always looked forward to Cross country practice.
Thank you, Coach Emilio.
