HORTICULTURE (GREENHOUSE) | Credit: 2-4

Intro to Horticulture credit: .5
Intro to Horticulture is a half-year course that introduces students to the basics of plant science. Students learn through hands-on activities and gain experience in different areas of horticulture while building practical, real world skills.

grades 10-12. Prerequisite: one semester of Intro to Horticulture
Horticulture 1 & 2 are full year courses that build on the basics learned in Intro to Horticulture. Students continue developing their knowledge and hands-on skills through a variety of activities, projects and project-based learning experiences. The class focuses on both understanding plant science and applying those skills in real situations. It also helps to prepare students for more advanced horticulture classes, involvement in the FFA and careers in the green industry.

Students in the program gain skills and knowledge through the learning-by-doing process. Class activities in the greenhouse and outdoor areas are complemented by other selected activities during the year.
