  • Please note that responses to parent emails are composed and sent only during non-instructional periods on school days.

  • Please make sure that emails are addressed To me.  Please do not BCC me on a message that you would like me to respond to.

  • If you have a question or concern, the appropriate course of action is to contact me first.  If you are unhappy with our conversation, by all means have a conversation with Ms. Kelly Curtiss (kcurtiss@bhpsnj.org), STEAM director, and/or Mr. Robert Nixon (rnixon@bhpsnj.org), principal.

  • Please be cautious as to what you post on the internet.  The Berkeley Heights Community Forum on Facebook and the Berkeley Heights Community Watch website is not an appropriate place to have this conversation.

  • Please no "discreet" communication.  I believe in an open and honest relationship with students.  If you are emailing me and do not want your child to know, please re-evaluate if the conversation is necessary.

Grade Updates/Missing Assignments

• • Please utilize PowerSchool and its weekly email blast for updated student grades.

Private Tutoring & the Role of the Teacher

• • If you hire a private tutor for your child, parents are the appropriate conduit of communication between the teacher and the tutor.  If the tutor has questions best answered by me, the questions need to come from the parent who will then relay the information back to the private tutor.

Requesting a Parent-Teacher Conference

• • If you would like to schedule a conference, the first step is to have your child meet with me outside of class to discuss the issue.

  • If after that conversation and your follow-up with your child you still would like to meet with me, please email me so I can schedule the meeting.

  • Parent conferences will only occur after I meet with your child.

  • Parent conferences are only scheduled during the regular school day when I am scheduled for a "professional" period.  Please note that the professional period is only scheduled for 2 hours in every 4 day rotation meaning that I am available for only 2 hours every 4 days to schedule a parent conference.
