Absent Protocol

If you are absent from class, please follow the protocol below:

    • Check the electronic class calendar to see what topic(s) you missed.

    • Ask a classmate for a copy of the notes and any example problems.

    • Visit my website for any available supplemental videos and/or notes on the topics you missed.

    • All work due on the day you missed is due the day you return regardless if class meets on that day.

    • Lab & Test Make-ups: If you missed a lab or test, you need to email me as to when you will make it up. If you do not, labs are considered late and tests will be made up during the next time you have class. Please note that making up classwork takes priority over extra-curricular (club) or athletic obligations. Your request to schedule make-up times should reflect this fact.

      • Labs:

        • Labs can be made up when my lunch availability calendar indicates OR if you have study hall when I teach a class (see below). Bring a friend from class who has already completed the lab to help you with data collection. If you come to make the lab up while I am teaching another class, I will not be able to assist you in data collection or answering your questions.

        • When you have determined a date and time, email me with a declarative statement listing the date and time you are coming (i.e. "I will make up the (Insert Lab Name) Lab on Tuesday during your posted lunch extra help" or "I will make up the (Insert Lab Name) Lab on Monday during block H's lab period.")

      • Tests:

        • Tests can be made up when my lunch availability calendar indicates OR if you have study hall when I teach a class (see below).

        • When you have determined a date and time, email me with a request listing the date and time you are coming (i.e. "Can I make the test up during your posted lunch extra help and block H's lab on Wednesday" or "Can I come during my study hall during block C on Friday?")

    • Read the relevant section(s) in your textbook based on the electronic class calendar.

    • Upon return to school, check the absent folder for any documents distributed during your absence.

    • Ask a classmate to explain any questions you might have. This allows your classmate to have a better understanding of the material as well by having them explain it to you.

    • If your classmates cannot assist you, then come in during an extra help session or email me the question(s) you have.
