Grading and Expectations for Students

Grading Policies:
Major Assessments 40%
Minor Assessments 30%
Project (1st and 3rd) and Benchmark (2nd and 4th) 10%
Homework 15%
Class Participation 5%
Major Assessments
● There will be two-three tests per marking period.
● Tests will be announced a week in advance on the Weekly Overview posted on Google Classroom each Friday at 2pm.
● We will complete a review and an answer key will be posted on Google Classroom.
Minor Assessments
● Quizzes are a way for you and me to check your progress.
● We will have 3-10 quizzes per marking period.
Project
● We will have one project during the 1st and 3rd marking periods.
Benchmark
● A cumulative test given at the end of the 2nd and 4th marking periods.
Homework
● ALL homework will be due the next time class meets. Homework is graded on effort/completeness, not correctness. Homework grades are a 100, 50 or 0.
Class Participation
● Each week you will earn a class participation grade reflecting your effort to engage in classroom activities, take notes, maintain good behavior and be prepared for class. If you lose participation points, a note will be posted on Genesis as to why you lost points.
Materials:
● Charged Chromebook
● Writing Utensil
● Notebook (just for math)
● Calculator - each of you will be assigned a graphing calculator to use in class. Links for a Scientific and Graphing calculators will be on Google Classroom for you to use at home.
Classroom Policies:
1. Remember, every day is a new day and an opportunity to succeed.
2. Cell phones are to be put in the calculator holder as you walk in and take your assigned calculator number. If you do not comply, there will be a disciplinary referral.
3. You are responsible for all information posted on Google Classroom and provided by the teacher during class, even if you are absent..
4. Any email communication must be sent from your @students.bhprsd.org email account. Do not use a personal email.
5. Be on time for class! Lateness will follow school rules/discipline.
6. Follow directions and ASK QUESTIONS if you do not understand the material.
7. RESPECT YOURSELF and EACH OTHER. Please raise your hand or wait to be acknowledged by the teacher before expressing answers.
8. ABSOLUTELY NO BULLYING OR DEMEANING REMARKS OF ANY KIND WILL BE TOLERATED.
9. Students are required to take notes in their notebook and maintain those notes in a neat and organized manner for studying purposes.
10. Academic HONESTY is expected at all times:
● Cheating includes copying homework, talking to another student during a test or quiz (I will assume you are discussing the test - don’t do it!), looking at another student’s answer, giving an answer to another student, etc.
● If cheating occurs, a zero will be assigned for the assignment and an honor code violation will be submitted to your vice-principal’s office.
Extra Help:
Mrs. Vittese’s Availability: Extra help is offered B and D days in Room D204 during Charger Time or after school Monday-Thursday in room D204 until 2:40 pm. If you happen to have a study hall period 1 or period 5 I am available for math enrichment in B202.
Mrs. Ritz’s Availability: Extra help is offered A and C days in Room B200 during Charger Time or after school Monday – Thursday in room B200 until 2:40pm.
