Algebra II Integrated
Policies:
ASSESSMENTS: Quiz 30%, Test 40%,
Quizzes may or may not be announced in advance. There will be approximately 5-6 quizzes, at least 3 tests a marking period, and benchmarks at the end of each marking period.
All work must be shown for full credit on all assessments.
If you are absent the day before a test, you are still required to take the test the day you return to school. It is your responsibility to make up Tests & Quizzes.
PROJECTS/BENCHMARK – 10%
There will be either 1 project OR 1 benchmark per marking period.
MP1: Project
MP2: Benchmark
MP3: Project
MP4: Benchmark
Although there is only one per marking period, 10% for one assignment is a pretty high weight. Please make sure you are studying and putting in an acceptable effort on all projects or benchmarks.
HOMEWORK – 15%
Homework must be completed before it is due in class. To receive full credit, every example must be attempted, work must be neat and legible, and if working out of the textbook, you must copy the original problem onto the page you are handing in. If it is an online homework assignment, no work is needed, though you should still have all of your work in your HW notebook.
If you are absent, you must hand the homework in the day after you return. There is no credit for late homework this year.
Homework is posted on the Google Classroom nightly. We also post notes from class that day (if there was a lecture) and homework is on the last page of the notes as well. “I didn’t know there was homework” is not an acceptable excuse ever.
CLASS PARTICIPATION - 5%
You will receive a weekly participation grade. It will be out of a max of two points per day.
You must have your notebook / HW notebook and a writing utensil ready to go at the beginning of class. Having these items results in a point for class participation
You must have your Chromebook charged and on at the beginning of class. Having a charged Chromebook results in a point for class participation.
The participation grade will be weekly and be a sum of the above criteria for the week. Thus, if there are 5 days in the week, you would have a maximum grade of 10 points for a 100% in class participation. This is a really easy way to maximize your grade by doing very little, so please keep up with your participation.
II. MATERIALS
The items needed daily for this class are your fully charged Chromebook, notebook (3 ring binder is preferred, but a spiral is fine), homework in notebook, writing utensil (pencil for tests), and a calculator (which can be obtained from class).
Attending school regularly is extremely important. Being in class will help with understanding the material and prevent you from falling behind. Plan carefully before missing class for field trips, athletic events, and other absences not related to illness. You will need to be in class to receive the benefit of your peers. There will be times that we put the notes for the class online. Check the website for any updates in your absence.
At times one may require extra help. Do not wait until the day before the test. Extra help is generally available after school Monday through Thursday in room B200 until 2:40 PM. I'm also available every day during Charger Time in B200. There is also the Math Empower Hour available Monday through Thursday in room A-203 after school from 2:10-4:00
Respect the rights of others
Be in class on time, in your assigned seat, and ready to work. If you are late, you must sign the tardy sheet at the front of the classroom. Below is the TC scale for dealing with tardy students.
1st Tardy: Teacher Detention: Be to detention by 2:05 PM
2nd Tardy: Teacher Detention and Parent/Guardian Phone Call:
3rd Tardy: Write up / Double Detention.
Tardiness after your third results write ups by your VP and points on your record.
Stay in your seat from bell to bell. There will be ample time where we move around the class doing activities.
Cell phones and earbuds are not permitted for use in instructional classrooms. If you are seen on your cell phone during an instructional class, you will receive a disciplinary referral for insubordination (electronics violation). Cell phones and earbuds are allowed in the hallways between classes and during charger time. They are not allowed out at all during instructional classes.
No bags of any type are permitted on the desks
Take proper care of books, desks, calculators, and other school equipment
Honesty is expected at all times. This includes not cheating or copying work. If either occurs, a zero will be assigned for the work in question.
