Mrs. Hurst

Welcome! I'm thrilled to start another school year at Highland Regional High School!   Here is a little information about me:

I earned my Dual Bachelor's Degree in Art and Education with a Minor in Art History from Rowan University in 2010. My passion for art education led me to start my teaching career as an elementary art teacher and later work as a 1:1 instructional aide. In 2017, I joined the talented team at Highland, where I've been teaching ever since. I am the advisor for Art Club and co-advisor for the Student Voice Committee. If you're interested in joining either organization, please feel free to reach out—we would love to have you on board!

My specialty lies in Ceramics and Sculpture, though I also enjoy exploring mixed media artworks in my personal practice. I believe in fostering a creative and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to express themselves through their art.

On a personal note, I met my wonderful husband in 2004. Together, we have two amazing kids, Blake and Wesley, and our family wouldn't be complete without our three beloved dogs: Artie, Rufus, and Bert.
