Highland Regional High School has implemented a new child leadership initiative that places trained Transitional Coaches on school campus to create a transitional support system designed to promote child academic and behavioral success.
Highland's Transitional Coach will meet with students for weekly coaching sessions to discuss and identify academic, behavioral, and social goals in order to create their own "goal statements" as part of the students' Transition Plan. The Transition Plan is basically a roadmap of the student's strengths, values, interests, purpose, and passion in life. Through individual coaching sessions, as well as weekly (1-2x's) group sessions, the student and the Transitional Coach will work together to identify and address various issues the student and their peers may face on a daily basis that may impact academic, behavioral, and/or social aspects of life.
Groups, as well as individual coaching sessions, will take place during non-core class times. However, there will be the option to attend groups after school, as well as an art therapy group on certain days after school.
