Hi! I'm Mrs.Carter and I'm going to be guiding fourth grade this year!
About me
My name is Mrs.Carter and I teach fourth grade here at BHCS. I have been working in schools for eleven years now and I am so excited to start the 26-27 school year with all of you! Some of you may have seen me around the school in the past eight years because I have two wonderful daughters that attend or have attended BHCS. Lyra my oldest is enjoying her high school adventures this year and Violet my youngest is moving on to the 6th grade group! Also, my husband Robert works at Viking Lumber right down the street.
Our little family has a small farm right up the road as well. We raise pigs, and chickens. We also keep a vegetable garden. We have lived here in Blue Hill for the past 6 years. Our favorite parts of living in Blue Hill would be the close knit community as well as all of the wonderful outdoor activities this beautiful area has to offer.
I have held a few different roles in schools including being an Ed Tech, a Librarian, and teaching first, second and for the past four years I have taught fourth grade. I believe that we learn more when we are having fun so I have a lot of activities and projects planned to help us explore topics in a more interesting way.
Over the past two years I have been fortunate enough to take part in a program facilitated by the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum called Teacher Innovator Institute. This program has involved immurising myself in hands on project based learning with top professionals from around the United States. Along with this learning I have been given resources to further engage and excite the learning happening in my classroom, school and wider community.
Speaking of community our school year will focus heavilty on being an active part of the community around us in order to make a positive impact. We will be exploring our community's history, learning about the science behind what and who live here, and connecting with educational partners that help to make Blue Hill a great place to live.
As the year goes on I will be updating this site to include current events and activities! Be sure to check back soon!
