Here is a list of materials students should have access to:
Notebook (3 Subject Notebook Wide Ruled with Poly Cover Preferred)
Walmart has the best prices for these - epecially during Back to School time. I prefer wide ruled because it give students more space to form their letters.
PLEASE PURCHASE a notebook that is the size of an 8 1/2 by 11 inch page. 100 pages or more in the notebook will be needed. We need 100 pages or more because the notebook pages are counted and separated into sections.
PLEASE DO NOT purchase a composition book. These books have pages that are too small and the organization of a composition notebook is a struggle.
Soft Pencil Case - This is carried to every class and should contain the following supples:
PENCILS! (Standard or automatic)
Highlighters (yellow, green, pink, orange, and blue prefered)
OPTIONAL: Coloring materials
One or more of the following: markers, crayons, colored pencils (preferred)
Teachers all have these materials. If you prefer to use something specific, you can keep it in a separate pencil case kept in your locker for times when you are told you would need them.
OPTIONAL: Glue Stick - Elmer's Glue All Purpose Glue Stick or Extra Stength are the best choices as they hold stonger and paper is less likely to peel out of the notebook.
OPTIONAL: Elmer's liquid glue
Earbuds/Headphones - These are an essential across the grade level. All the 5th grade classes require these for students to complete independent work - especially testing. Not having these can impact student results on assessments. Check The Dollar Tree, Target Dollar Spot, Five Below, etc. to find a pair. It is best if they can fit in the pencil case because then they are always available.
Pens can be used when we edit work. I personally prefer erasable pens. Amazon has some good brands. Any erasable pen comparable to the Pilot Frixion Erasable Pens would be acceptable. You can find these, and other packs with more colors at Target, Walmart, Staples, and of course, Amazon.
lABEL YOUR MATERIALS
It is SO helpful when students have each individual item labeled. I know that it can be very time consuming to do this, but it really helps to cut down on lost materials. Especially since students are switching classes and taking materials with them.
