The Benton Harbor Tigers faced the Eau Claire Beavers for the second time this season during Benton Harbor’s Pink Out game, which also celebrated Parent Night and Senior Night. The teams first met at Eau Claire High School during the Beavers’ Senior Night, where Eau Claire defeated the Tigers 3-0. The Tigers were looking to redeem themselves in the rematch, but despite their best efforts, they fell to the Beavers 3-0 once again. Benton Harbor’s only senior, Jada Winson, was injured and unable to play in the match.
The Tigers faced several challenges throughout the game, including struggles with their serves. The team was also missing its setter and another player, making the matchup even more difficult. Despite these obstacles, the Tigers continued to give their best effort against the Beavers.
Head Coach Timisha Napier said she was happy with how the team looked and how coordinated the players were. She also expressed happiness with the team’s improvement since its earlier games. Although the Tigers did not get the result they wanted, their progress throughout the season remained something to be proud of.
Other players shared positive thoughts about the game, saying they enjoyed playing in front of their family and friends. They also appreciated seeing their classmates come out to support the team during the Pink Out game. One player emphasized that, win, lose, or draw, the team’s best effort was what mattered most.
Although the Tigers fell short in the rematch, the night was about more than the final score. Between the support from family and friends, the celebration of the team’s senior, and the players’ continued improvement, the Pink Out game gave the Tigers an opportunity to come together and represent Benton Harbor.
Tigers Score a Big Homecoming Win
By Jason Wolf

Homecoming was a big night for the Tigers, who beat Genesee 62-6 with a dominant running game and strong defense.
Head coach Robert Cuba said, “The gameplan was simple: we wanted to execute the run game early often, a good run game pushes and sets the pace of the game; opens up our pass game as well, whenever we want to push the ball down the field.”
The gameplan worked with five touchdowns on the ground before the 1st touchdown reception. Coach Cuba credited the offensive line. “I think our inside offensive line play was more impactful this week. We had some good areas in which the running backs could find the hole a lot easier.”
Six different Tigers scored in the game. Torrance Ellis scored the first and last touchdowns. O’vertus Franklin scored the second and second to last touchdowns. Ja’Byrion Broyles had an interception and return for a touchdown. Quarterback Ben Varrie ran in the 4th and 7th touchdowns. Elliot Willford scored the 5th touchdown, and Zameir Clayton had the only touchdown from a reception.
Coach Cuba said, “Nothing ever changed. I think the only real thing that changed was we wanted the ball early and fast so we could make plays and see the field.”

Benton Harbor High School’s football team got its first win of the 2026 season on Friday, September 25, 2026. The Tigers beat Oakland Christian 54-0 at BHHS. The team played hard on both offense and defense and did not allow Oakland Christian to score.
The game started at 7 p.m., and Benton Harbor quickly took control. The Tigers scored 54 points, which was their highest-scoring game of the season. MaxPreps said, “The Tigers’ offense stepped up their game for this one.” This showed how much the team improved during the season.
The win was important because Benton Harbor had lost its first four games of the season. Before this game, the Tigers had only scored 18 points during the season. This victory gave the team a chance to turn things around and finish the season stronger.
The Tigers came into the game ready to compete and show what they can do. Their strong offense helped them put up points, while their defense kept Oakland Christian from getting on the scoreboard. O’vertus Franklin had a 67-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. O’vertus said, “Success isn’t given; it’s earned through consistency, discipline, and effort.” The players stayed focused throughout the game and worked together to earn the shutout.
The win gave something to celebrate after a tough start to the season. The Tigers can use this game as motivation to keep practicing, improving, and working together as they get ready for their next game. The coaches and fans got to see the team’s hard work finally pay off. They are ready to keep fighting and show everyone what Benton Harbor football is all about. Now, the players have their eyes on the next challenge and are ready to keep the momentum going.

Benton Harbor Scores 6 to Berrien Springs’ 51 Points
By Jason Wolf
Penalties put the Tigers behind, and the Shamrocks took advantage of field position to win the first game of the season on Friday, August 28, 2026.
On the first drive of the game, Benton Harbor repeatedly violated the play clock, and delay of game penalties pushed the Tigers back towards their own goal line. The Shamrocks tackled Senior #1 O'vertus Franklin for a safety and the first points of the game.
Berrien Springs’ Junior quarterback Brealin Hurst returned to lead the Shamrocks for a second season. The son of Brandon Hurst who played for the Tigers and graduated in 2007, Brealin’s running, passing, and kicking points after touchdowns put the Rocks out of reach. Brealin Hurst, who ran his PB 10.73 seconds in the 100 meters on May 15, 2026, proved to be the fastest player on the field.
The highlight for Benton Harbor came at the end of the 1st quarter when Sophomore quarterback #7 Isaiah Cornelius’ threw a long pass to #5 Benjamin Varrie to score the only points for the Tigers with a 72-yard touchdown.
