Hello! My name is Jo Beth Gonzalez, and I am a theatre and public speaking teacher at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, OH. I have been teaching at BGHS for twenty-five years! I love the ways that theatre education shapes students' whole selves. It is exciting to discover how my international travel experiences influence my teaching and directing, and in turn, begin to broaden the global perspectives of my students.

WHY GLOBAL EDUCATION? Our students must graduate with Global Citizenship skills to become successful working adults in the 21st Century. Through my experiences in the IREX / Teachers for Global Classrooms Program (TGC) program, I’ve discovered that it is easier than we might think to pivot our classrooms and co-curricular programs to globalized learning. This website provides resources, practical suggestions, and examples, as well as strategies for collegial support, as we infuse global education goals into our already-established lesson plans, and experiment with new sources and methods.

Therefore, globalization isn't a challenge to American jobs; it's an opportunity (Asia Society).
The FOUR STEPS of Global Competence are INVESTIGATE THE WORLD, RECOGNIZE PERSPECTIVE, COMMUNICATE IDEAS, and TAKE ACTION. See Asia Society: What is Global Competence?
