Happy Summer Everyone!!!
Crazy Eights
Each player is dealt 5 cards.
The remaining cards are placed face down in the middle of the players. The top card is turned over beside the deck.
Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player must play a card that is either the same value or same suit as the card on the pile in the middle of the players.
If a player cannot play a card, then they must pick up a card from the pile of cards that are face down.
Remember, it is crazy 8s! If an 8 is played, then the person who played the 8 can change the suit to one of their choice.
Old Maid
You can play this with a regular deck of cards!
Remove one queen from the deck and set aside.
Deal all of the cards to the players. Players will have more cards if there are fewer people playing.
Each player looks at their cards and removes any pairs that they have, putting them down in front of them.
The youngest player picks a random card from the hand of the person to the left of them. If the card matches one in their hand, they put the pair down.
Play continues with each player picking a random card from the hand of the person to their left.
At the end, the person stuck with the unmatched queen loses.
Would you Rather
Cut out squares of paper, all the same size.
Think of Would you Rather questions and write one on each card. For example, which super power would you rather have, flight or super speed? Would you rather always have to walk backwards or always jump to your destination? Would you rather have a dragon or a unicorn as a pet? Would you rather dance in front of the school or sing in front of the school?
Shuffle the cards and take turns picking one from the deck.
When you answer the question, make sure you explain your answer!
Balloon Crawl
Blow up balloons and mark a finish line on the floor.
Start across the room from the finish line.
Blow your balloon across the floor and try to get it over the finish line. You cannot touch the balloon with anything other than your breath.
Balloon Tennis/Badminton
Use tape to make a line on the floor or a table for the net.
Blow up a balloon, or multiple balloons if you want to make it more interesting.
Use a spoon as your tennis racket.
Keep the balloon from hitting the ground.
Indoor Table Ice Hockey
Fill a casserole dish with water and freeze it.
Once it is frozen, use food coloring or markers to draw on lines. Make a net and hockey sticks using popsicle sticks. A puck can be made from a bean, a piece of pasta or a piece of candy.
Play hockey!
Indoor Obstacle Course
Using items from around your home, set up a mini obstacle course.
You could have to travel around a chair, walk in a straight line over tape, jump between pillows, crawl under tables, use your imagination!
Paper Airplane Tic-Tac-Toe
Use painter's tape or string to create a tic-tac-toe board on the ground.
Back away far enough for it to be a challenge and mark the throwing point on the floor using tape or string.
Each player creates at least 6 paper airplanes. Make sure they are decorated so you can tell them apart!
Take turns throwing the paper airplanes at the tic-tac-toe board. If the paper airplane does not land in a square, your turn is over.
The first person to get three in a row wins.
Sardines
This is a reverse game of hide-and-seek.
One person finds a hiding spot while the others count to 20.
Everyone searches for the spot where the person is hiding. If you find them, you must hide with them!
The last person to find everyone is the one who has to hide the next round.

Simon Says
One person is Simon. This person says commands either beginning with "Simon says" or not.
If the other players complete a command that was issued without "Simon says" at the beginning, they are out. If they do not complete a command that was issued with "Simon says" at the beginning, they are out.
The game continues until only one player is left. They are Simon for the next round.
Sock Soccer
Take a pair of socks and fold them together to use as a ball.
Make two nets by marking an area on the floor with tape.
Play soccer!
Web Crawl
Using yarn, create a spiderweb throughout your home. You can use furniture to string the yarn around, or tape it to walls or doorways.
Students can try and find the best way to get through the web without touching any of the strings, which would alert the spider to their presence.
You can make it a timed contest between everyone in the house!
Continue the Story
Grab a piece of paper and a pencil.
One person starts the story by writing a single sentence.
The story is passed to the next person who adds another sentence.
See what happens when multiple people try to write a story!
Guess the Item
Grab a cookie tray from the kitchen and place a variety of items on it. They can be anything; a pencil, a coin, a remote, a book, an apple. Try to have 10-15 items on the tray.
Everyone gets 1 minute to look at the tray.
While everyone else closes their eyes, one person removes 2-3 items from the tray and hides them.
The other players open their eyes and try to guess the items that were removed from the tray. The person who guesses the correct items will get to remove them for the next round.
Hangman
Grab a blank piece of paper or a white board.
One person thinks up a word and draws a space for each letter on the paper.
The other person guesses letters to try and figure out the word. If they get a letter correct, it is written in the correct blank space. If the letter is wrong, a piece of the person is drawn.
If the whole person is drawn before the word is guessed, then the person guessing loses.
Try French words too!
Logic Puzzles
Try some logic puzzles! These games provide written clues and a problem to solve. There are varying levels of difficulty available.
Pictionary
All you need for this game is paper, pencils, a timer, and your imagination.
One person will think of an object to draw.
Set the timer for 2 minutes.
The person who is drawing starts drawing the object while everyone else begins to guess what the object is.
The person who correctly guesses the object gets a point, and is the next person to draw.
If ideas are needed, you can create a card deck of ideas, and each person takes a card from the deck and draws what is on the card.
What's in the Box?
Take an old box, cut a hole in the lid.
Place an object in the box without letting anyone else see it.
Each person takes a turn putting their hand in the box and using their sense of touch to try and determine what the object is.
Examples of objects: string, a pen, an apple, JELLO, LEGO, a spoon, or anything else you can think of.
