FRENCH: Our goal is to communicate effectively in French. We focus on improving our French speaking, listening, reading and writing in a variety of different ways.
We will build our French vocabulary banks and develop our fluency. We will ask questions and solve problems together. We will read and write and speak and listen.
MATH:
Number Sense & Numeration: Representing, ordering and comparing large numbers; addition & subtraction of large numbers (including money); Representing and comparing fractions; beginning Multiplication & Division
Measurement: Exploring a variety of tools and what they are used for (time, temperature, mass, capacity, length, height, width); Perimeter & Area
Geometry & Spatial Sense: Naming, sorting and comparing Solids (3-D shapes); Transformational geometry; Directionality
Patterning/Algebra: Identifying and creating repeating, growing and shrinking shape and number patterns; balancing simple equations (find the missing number)
Data Management & Probability: Creating surveys; Reading and creating a variety of graphs to match data; simple probability games (Is this game fair?)
SCIENCE: We will be learning about Strong/Stable structures, Forces, Soil & Plants
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be learning First Canadians (History) as well as the Working and Living in Ontario (Geography) plus Continents.
GYM: We will be focussing on sportsmanship & safety through a variety of cooperative and competitive games and sports.
THE ARTS: We will explore different types of art tools for different purposes - both 2D and 3D. We will be creating music, performing dramatically & dancing.
Students will receive 40 minutes of English Lanugage Arts instruction a day (with Ms. Reece) and and library (with Mrs. Vandewater) in the future.
