In education we are always looking for opportunities to support students in learning more about Mental Health and wellbeing.
The following programs are a way to start the conversation about Mental Health and provide opportunities for students to learn more about themselves, others and challenges them to grow and be more aware. These programs are often supported by the Child & Youth Workers with classroom implementation.
Elementary (JK-8) Programs

Class Meetings
OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Program is designed to improve peer relations and make the school a safer, more positive place for students to learn and develop.
Stress Lessons
Lessons to introduce stress management strategies and to build emotional resilience with an experiential, hands-on learning approach.
The Zones of Regulation
Self-Regulation Program designed for students to identify their emotions and learn strategies and tools to self-regulate.
Kids in the Know
Lessons for grades K - 12 about healthy boundaries, relationships and how to seek help. These resources have been created by the Centre for Child Protection Canada and support our Anti Human Trafficking policy by providing students with early education and prevention tools.
Operation Respect
Lessons that build essential skills for reducing bullying and conflict, and establish a peaceful supportive learning environment.
Roots of Empathy
This program designed to teach children empathy through the relationship and development of a 'tiny teacher' (baby) and their parent.
Mindfulness Ambassador Council
Lessons that promote social and emotional learning competencies through self-regulation, intentional attention using mindfulness and developing pragmatic language skills.

Specialized Small Group Programming
The Holistic Arts Program is a Strengths Based Program. The goals of the program are for participants to learn mindfulness skills, improve self awareness, develop self- compassion and empathy and to continue developing existing strengths. Each session begins with a Primer Activity then an Arts-Based Mindfulness Activities then the Closing Activity.
Every year, your schools intermediate class(es) have the opportunity to participate in Stress Lessons. The lesson's focus on what stress is, what stresses students out, problem solving and how to cope with stress.
Students have the opportunity to receive additional support with their transition to High School through individual support with a CYW.
