Hello everyone! My name is Trey Hill and this is my 7th year teaching at Bondurant-Farrar. I am from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and went to the University of Iowa - GO HAWKS!! I am a saxophone player and have a delightful cat named Charlie. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cooking, listening to audiobooks/podcasts, and watching TV/movies! I love to share my passion and joy for music with students. As a child that had the odds stacked against them growing up, band is what saved me. It gave me a group to belong to and a place to express myself. Not every child will have the same experience I had growing up, but I will try my hardest to ensure that each student has a safe, fun, and educational environment to make music in!
Mike Bistline is the new 8–12 Band Director at BFCSD. He is a graduate of Wartburg College and holds a Master’s degree from Kansas State University. This marks Mr. Bistline’s 26th year in education. He began his teaching career at Jesup Community Schools and spent the last 21 years at Union Community Schools in La Porte City, Iowa.
Mr. Bistline’s wife, Jen, is also a Wartburg graduate and a music educator. She teaches general music at Windsor Elementary in the Des Moines Public Schools. The Bistlines have four children. This fall, their two sons will be attending Wartburg College as a junior and a freshman, while their two daughters will be a junior and a freshman at BFHS.
The Bistline’s enjoy supporting their children in a variety of activities, including concerts, golf meets, baseball games (though that chapter has closed), dance recitals, and musicals. Outside of their kids’ events, Jen and Mike share a love for home improvement projects—Jen serves as the CEO/Project Manager, while Mike completes work orders as efficiently as possible.
