Virtue of the Month
Each month Benjamin Franklin feature a specific virtue and incorporate it into the development of character. In continued support of understanding and embodying the virtue, we find ways to include this in how we work together as independent musicians and also as a full cooperative ensemble. The virtues are essential to character development, self reflection and discovery as we grow and develop skills.
Sometimes we even come up with ORCHESTRA SPECIFIC VIRTUES!
So far this year we have added 2 new virtues to our vocabulary of Orchestral Virtues!
Calmitas
to play with a steady controlled bow with an even, pleasant, warm and lyrical sound!
Vigoritas
to play with an aggressive energetic and marcato bow stroke yet still produce a great tone to all that energy!
For a full list of the MONTHYLY BENJAMIN FRANKLIN HIGH VIRTUES
which we study each month, please see the list below. We encourage you to talk about each one and discuss how it fits into the lives of our amazing young musicians!
