Perseverance in our 5th grade classroom means sticking with a challenge, even when learning feels hard. It looks like trying another strategy when a math problem doesn’t work the first time, rereading a passage to understand it better, and using notes or asking for help when you’re stuck. It means learning from mistakes, making corrections, and giving your best effort as you grow.

• Trying a new strategy when the first one doesn’t work.

• Showing your work, even when the math problem is challenging.

• Rereading directions or a passage when you don’t understand it yet.

• Using your notes and classroom tools to help yourself.

• Asking a thoughtful question when you’re stuck.
