Warm-Up Activity/Bellwork- 

Problem of the day- Linda is paid the same amount for each hour of work. In 6 hours, she earns $195. Write an equation that describes the dollars ‘y’ that she earns if she works ‘x’ hours. 

Objective - Relate right triangles to the coordinates of a line going through the origin, and compare persistent features of the triangle to the persistent features of the line. 

Direct Instruction - Modeling and demonstrating the concept of determining the slope (rise over run or y/x) of a line and using the slope to determine additional points on the line,  & proportional relationships using tables and graphs.

Warm-Up Activity/Bellwork- 

Problem of the Day-

Writing an equation to represent a given word problem.

Objective - 

Decipher what a word problem is asking. Understand and provide what the problem is asking. 

Direct Instruction -  Deep dive into interpreting what a problem, specifically word problems are asking students to provide. Instruction on using the given information to create the correct equation that would allow students to provide the correct solution. Emphasis being placed on the fact that the solution cannot be reached if the equation is not set up correctly. 

Instruction also provided on finding the missing coordinate when given an ordered pair and the origin as two points of the line, and only the x or y value of a 3rd point. 

Discussion about test retake protocols. Packets and forms available for students who commit to retaking the Module 3 test. 


Homework: Complete the problems assigned on Thursday
