Sweeney-BFHS - Course 3

Welcome to Course 3! Parents and students, please click on the Course 3 syllabus on the left side below to read together about our class requirements and to complete the online form that will verify your receipt. There is a space provided on the online form for comments or concerns. Please complete by Tuesday, July 28th. Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation! Test Retakes

Students have the opportunity to complete test retakes to replace their test scores by completing the process listed below. The maximum grade that a student can earn on a retake is 90%. Test retakes MUST take place within two weeks of the test grade being posted. The number of retakes allowed in Course 3 is limited to three tests per semester. Retakes do not apply to quizzes, nor to the final exams. In order to qualify for a retake, students must complete the following steps:

Complete the Test Retake Form.
Ensure all classwork and homework from the specific module has been completed.
The specific module's anchor chart/note packet(s) provided must be completed and reviewed by the teacher.
Attend tutoring for a minimum of 120 minutes during Conference periods and/or after school in the Math Center* and complete test corrections during tutoring along with any supplemental instruction/reteach materials that the teacher may assign as needed.
Get the teacher's approval and schedule with the teacher in advance to take the retake in the Math Center during after-school tutoring.

Course 3 Test Retake Form

Obtain a Test Retake Form from the teacher or click on the link to the form above. Complete a printed copy and turn in to the teacher to be able to retake a test. You need this filled out, along with completing the process listed above to be able to retake a test.

Required Supplies and Texts for Course 3

Students are required to have supplies that are used for this class only. Please ensure that your student has the following materials and is prepared for class each day:

HMH 8th Grade Workbook -No pages should be removed at any time. The workbook must remain intact. (Replacement workbooks must be purchased through the office if lost or damaged.)
3-Ring Binder to use for math anchor charts, math notes, additional worksheets, loose leaf lined paper, graph paper, etc.
Pencils (with erasers)- 1 or 2 for each day.
Highlighters- 1 or 2 for each day.
Dry erase markers- will only use 1 at a time, but will need 10 per semester.
Lined and Graph paper- loose leaf for their 3-ring binder.
Scientific Calculator that can perform exponential functions, square and cube roots, etc. Students will use only as directed and more often for the math concepts during Semester 2.

****Homework is posted on the day it is assigned and is due on the following school day unless otherwise noted.

Math Tutoring

Available after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Math Center (room 108). Tutoring is provided by the BFHS math teacher team. If you need additional support (besides after school tutoring), please request a conference pass the day prior that you'd like to attend the conference period.
