Important update! Math tutoring is available after school only on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Math Center (room 108). Tutoring is provided by the BFHS math team. If you need additional support besides after school tutoring, please request a conference pass the day prior that you'd like to attend the conference period.
Required Supplies and Texts for Course 3
Students are required to have supplies that are used for this class only. Please ensure that your student has the following materials and is prepared for class.
HMH 8th Grade Workbook -No pages should be removed at any time. The workbook must remain intact. (Workbooks must be purchased through the office if lost or damaged.)
Binder (can be used with other classes with section separator)- place to put printed guided notes, etc.
Pencils (multiple)
Colored pens or pencils- red, blue
Highlighters- green, orange, pink
Dry erase markers and eraser
Lined and Graph paper - loose leaf
Calculator that can perform exponential functions. Scientific Calculator
The opportunity to complete test retakes to replace their test scores. The maximum grade that a student can earn on a retake is 90%. Test retakes MUST take place within two weeks of the test grade being posted. The number of retakes allowed per course is as follows:
Course 2: All tests
Course 3 and Algebra I: Three tests per semester
All other courses: Two tests per semester
Students may not be allowed to retake the final unit test of the semester based on teacher discretion. Retakes do not apply to the final exam.
In order to qualify for a retake, students must complete the following steps:
complete this approval form;
attend tutoring for a minimum of 60 minutes during Conference or after school at the Math Center*; AND
during tutoring, complete test corrections along with any supplemental instruction/reteach materials that the teacher may assign.
