Please see the image to the left for the colour coding of cloths for hygiene reasons
Dirty cloths go into a dirty cloth bag while cleaning.
They should be put in the laundry upon completion of your shift. You will be shown this on your school tour.
Mop heads are washed daily. Take them off when finished and put them in the wash with yoru cloths.
Please do not wear two headphones when vacuuming. You cannot hear if the vacuum is blocked and you could destroy our vacuums fast this way. You may use one earphone.
Each team member is assigned their own vacuum cleaner. Adjust the straps of your vacuum to fit your body so that weight is distributed evenly on your shoulders, hips and chest when all buckles are secured.
If the vacuum isn't sucking properly, you do need to resolve it.
For shared vacuums (Kindy, Rosewood, Preschool), you must resolve blockages, and check the bags as you would if it were your own vacuum.
Vacuum bags are located in the cleaning storage areas around the school. Please spend 5-10 minutes trying to resolve equipment issues yourself and if you really cannot fix it in that time, notify Beyond Cleaning Group via the group chat.
The main shed isn't watertight, so please make sure vacuums are put into the cart or on the wall and are off the ground.
Be gentle with the equipment. Look after the cords. Wind them from the vacuum end. You will be shown this.
There are a number of cordless blowers at the school, with batteries and chargers. Please be sure to put the batteries back on charge between uses as they will only last around 20 minutes (one blow).
We have 1 x corded blower that is more powerful and can run indefinitely. Please make sure to use a high-visibility cord with the corded blower and only use it when there are not lots of people left at the school.
Pick up rubbish before blowing
Always use a mask, goggles and earmuffs provided when blowing.
Write your name on a mask and use it until it is no longer functional.
There is PPE located near the keys at the sign-in (on the shelf under the first aid kit)
Always wear disposable gloves while cleaning, especially for toilets where communicable diseases such as hepatitis, worms and other illnesses can be transmitted.
Need more PPE - no problem! Just let the office know and we will order anything required for safety.
There are 5L pumps at the high school and the shed that you can use to fill your cleaning spray bottles.
Only authorised people refill the 5L bottles from the 20L bottles. No one else is permitted to do so.
The floor cleaner is concentrated Microclean Eucalyptus Disinfectant All-Purpose Cleaner
213 foaming degreaser (in the shed) is like sugar soap 'but better' and good for holiday deep cleaning
We have some bottles of mold killer for the showers - it is needed from time to time in the office and the HS North Staff toilet
All internal bins and bucket bins in the hallways are emptied into the council bins in the breezeways and on decks. A contractor empties the council bins.
All bins MUST be wiped after emptying them
If you need to remove large rubbish, there is a skip North of the Hall/High School North
There is a bin in the main cleaning shed, if it is full, please empty it.
Bins are colour coded as follows:
Red - Garbage Yellow - Recycling Green - Compost
Toilet hand towel goes in the compost bin.
