We will need several volunteers to help at the 4th grade concert (Nov. 10)! Volunteers will show students where to go and help with general supervision. Volunteers can still watch the performance! Click here to sign up to volunteer. Thank you in advance!
4th Grade Orchestra First Concert
MONDAY, November 10 at 6:00pm
BHS Performing Arts Center (PAC)
Students arrive by 5:30pm
Who: 4th grade orchestra students (and some BHS students)
Where: Bettendorf High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) (3333 18th St. Bettendorf). Park in the north parking lot (off of 18th Street, by tennis courts). Students enter through door 4NW (different door than used for morning rehearsal)
WHEN: Monday, Nov. 10. Arrive by 5:30pm and go in door 4NW. Follow signs/directions to your unpacking room.
At home: Eat, get dressed, use restroom. Check to make sure you have everything you need. Except for emergencies, there will be no restroom breaks once you arrive at BHS.
Wear: Wear nice/professional/dressy clothes for the concert. Avoid jeans, tennis shoes, athletic clothing, sweatshirts/sweatpants, clothing with writing on, etc. Any colors/patterns are fine. Students do not need to buy anything new to wear for the concert. We encourage students to wear something that they feel ‘professional’ in and that is nicer than their regular school clothes if possible.
Bring: Concert music sheet, instrument/bow, and instrument accessories (sponge/shoulder rest for violins/violas, rock stop for cellos/basses.) Music stands are NOT needed. NO PHONES, devices, toys, etc.
Concert Etiquette: Students will sit together in the audience to watch the other groups perform. Please talk with your student about being a respectful audience member: focus on the front, voice level 0, calm body, applause after each song, etc. All students are expected to stay until the end of the concert. Displaying appropriate concert etiquette and personal demeanor during performances are standards we are working on (American String Teacher Association 2E.1.4, 2E.1.5).
Absence: To report an absence due to illness or emergency, fill out an online absence form or contact us. All concerts are required and are part of each student’s orchestra grade. An absence from the concert for any reason will need to be made up with a make-up assignment.
Rehearsals take place from 7:30-8:10am at Bettendorf High School. Assigned rehearsal days are listed below. Families provide transportation to rehearsal and students ride the school bus from BHS to their elementary school after rehearsal. Please see your email and/or contact us with questions, including which door to use at BHS.
