In this engaging course, Grade 6 students explore the essential skills needed to thrive in our digital age. Through hands-on activities and collaborative projects, learners will develop their computational thinking abilities while mastering a variety of tools and applications. Units of study include Chromebook basics, Internet safety, word processing, slideshows and presentations, spreadsheets and data analysis, and drawing and animation. Through Google and KidOYO applications, students will build a solid foundation of computer applications, as well as gain the confidence to explore and innovate in the digital landscape.
In this course, Grade 7 students will develop essential computational thinking skills and learn to follow the design process in creating their own programs. Throughout the course, students will enhance their artistic and technical skills while grasping fundamental coding concepts. The units of study include Sprite Drawing and Animation with the Sprite Editor, Block Coding with Maze Code, and Hatch and Text-Based Programming Basics with Python. To showcase their learning journey, students will build a KidOYO portfolio, where they can collect and present their projects, reflecting their growth as programmers.
In this comprehensive course on web development, students will learn the essential skills needed to create web pages and websites. The course is divided into four main units:
Basics of Web Page Creation where students will use the KidOYO platform to learn HTML and CSS for structuring and styling web pages;
Web Imagery which covers the fundamentals of Digital Imagery for creating and modifying images such as titles, banners, and logos;
Designing Web Pages focusing on design elements like color schemes, layout, navigation, and content delivery;
Using Web Editors where students will complete a full website using Google Sites.
Throughout the course, students will also develop and enhance their “Digital Portfolios” on KidOYO.
